A couple of Casper College Men’s Basketball players are moving on to the next level.
Antun Maricevic and Jackson Stent both signed their official letters of intent on Tuesday as both will continue playing basketball at NCAA Division 1 schools.
Maricevic, a 6’10" post, will join the University of South Florida Bulls, who under first-year coach Brian Gregory went 10-22 in the American Athletic Conference for the 2017-2018 season.
Stent, a 6’8” forward, will join the Houston Baptist University Huskies out of the Southland Conference. HBU is a private Baptist university located in Houston, Texas. 041818

The Casper Mountain ski area has announced that the snow is holding up and they'll extend the season for one more weekend, open 9am til 4pm this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Spectra Food and Beverage will offer season pass holders discounts on select food and beverage items on Saturday, and Mountain Sports Rentals has their demo skis for sale.
21 of 27 trails are currently open.

Casper's new semi-pro baseball team has released their 2018 season schedule.
The Casper Horseheads, of the Expedition League, will begin their inaugural campaign May 25 with a six-game homestand, featuring three games with the Western Nebraska Pioneers of Gering, NE; followed by three with the Badlands Big Sticks of Dickinson, ND.
The Horseheads 2018 season includes 64 games, 32 home games at Mike Lansing Field in Casper. 122617

Josh Allen threw for 219 yards and three touchdowns and moved into the top 10 on the Wyoming career passing yardage and total offense lists in a 45-10 victory over Texas State on Saturday.
Allen's 8-yard TD pass to Austin Conway in the third quarter moved him into tenth place in career passing yards with 4,131. Earlier he moved into tenth on the career total offense chart with 4,738 yards.
Damian Williams found Elijah King on a 5-yard scoring pass with 3:11 remaining in the first half to pull Texas State (1-4) within 14-10, but Tyler Hall answered with a 95-yard kick return - his second TD return in as many games - to put Wyoming up 21-10.
Williams was 10 of 19 passing for a season-low 91 yards for the Bobcats. Willie Jones III relieved and ran for 57 yards on five carries. 093017

A Texas cowboy injured at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper continues to improve.
Odessa College bull rider Bradie Gray was critically injured a bull stepped on him during Thursday night’s performance of the CNFR.
Reports Sunday say Gray is now breathing on his own and is able to communicate some with doctors and family members.
A GoFundMe page – the Brady Gray Recovery Fund – has raised over $13,000 since it was established Saturday. 061917

Logan Harris of Torrington and Anna Gibson of Jackson were named the boys and girls winner of the 2017 Milward-Simpson award.
It is given out to the best overall high school athlete of each graduating class.
Harris is the first TrailBlazer boy to win the award.
He earned 3 all-conference and 7 all-state awards while competing in football, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.
Gibson is the first Lady Bronc to win the award.
She earned 12 all-state awards while competing in cross-country, nordic skiing and outdoor track and field.
The award is named after Milward Simpson who was the team captain for the University of Wyoming football, basketball and baseball teams, and earned varsity letters in each sport from 1917-1921.
He later served as Wyoming Governor from 1954-58 and as a U.S. Senator from 1962-67.
2017 is the 42nd year for the award. 061917

Casper College has made it official... Jhett Johnson is the new head rodeo coach for the T-Birds.
Johnson is a Natrona County native, and a million-dollar career earner in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. He's a five-time National Finals Rodeo Qualifier, and was the 2011 World Champion Team Roper along with Turtle Powell.
Johnson served as assistant coach under Tom Parker since 2012, and took over as interim head coach in February of this year as Parker’s health began to decline.
Parker died earlier this year.
Jhett Johnson says he wants “to have the number one rodeo program in the Central Rocky Mountain Region”, and wants to provide opportunities for young people to enhance their ability to rodeo while getting an education. 061317

The top 4 competitors in the season point standings after the conclusion of the state finals qualify for the High School National Finals Rodeo.
Local cowboys and cowgirls making the nationals team include Jaymis Soneson of Douglas and Matt Britton of Wheatland... they got the fourth spot in team roping. Jaycee Thompson of Lusk earned the top spot in goat tying... and Peyton Kottwitz of Lusk got the 3-slot in Reined cow horse competition. Casper cowboys and cowgirls on the Nationals team include Carson and Kellen Johnson, state champs in team roping, Wheaton Williams of Big Horn and Jerren Johnson of Casper were the 2-seed in team roping... Cole Kilts got the 4th spot in bull riding, Jonathan Lipps was state champ in boys cutting, and Wes Bray was third... Shae Bray was second in girls cutting.
